The Romans were here as long as from the end of the Tudor period till the present day. Yet we think of the occupation as quite brief.
This walk starts where they first landed at London Bridge and visits the site of the port, the baths, the temple, the basilica, the forum and finally the wall.
Along the way we discuss the impact they had on the conquered Britons and the life they made for themselves in this chilly northern outpost. In the 5th century they abandoned the island to its fate as Rome itself is under threat, but why is there a single Saxon relic in the ruins?
